"Magnus bloody Kale... now that is a name that we dont like to hear. It all started three years ago. On Tartarus. The site of the Maladictum Incident. What a mess that was. Eldar, Chaos, orks, Space Marines and smack dab in the middle of that Meat Grinder was the Bloody Tartarus PDF. And standing at the front Was... Kale. The following are excerpts of data gained from interrogating survivors of the various Incidents involving Magnus Kale. I send this in good faith that my fellows in the Inquisition will be able to use this information in assissting in the search for Subject Lazarus..."
Inquisisitor Raziel. (ACCESS RESTRICTED)

"Tartarus broke the regiment as surely as any Greenskin or damned traitor. The lucky ones fell in the trenches and earthworks, granted the chance to die fighting, pure and untainted. Others.....others got the touch of the Warp in them, turning their guns on each other, sprouting limbs where there weren't no limbs before. And then there was Kale, the survivor.......survivor, don't make me laugh, Tartarus broke him just as it broke all of us, he just hasn't had the good sense to lay down and die yet....."
Staff Sargeant Bay Reeves, 265th Tartarus Grenadiers, secured by the Inquisition

"The first incident was at the Waterworks, we were sent in to assist the Blood Ravens retake the area. Our unit got ambushed by Ork Killa Kans, we got split up. Half the men got caught up fighting the orks, they finished their objective and assisted the Space marines in their assault. But as for the other Half? Kale lead them deeper into the Jungle. They didnt come back."
Corporal Toombs, 212 Tartarus Rifles, executed for heresy.

"Sigma-Kappa-Beta reporting my lord: Xenos presence eliminated around Point Alpha 233, minimal casualties suffered. Local Planetary Defence Forces encountered at reduced strength and trapped by Orks, the Orks were eliminated with haste and the PDF contingent secunded to our command. Sensors indictated life forms withdrawing into the jungle inconsistent with Ork readings but objective primaris was deemed too important to deviate from and the jungle remained unscouted. Returning to forward base now."
Battle Brother Marcus, Blood Ravens 4th company

"I already told you man! Just... just let me go or shoot me already!! What? Fine. He... Who? Who the fuck do you think!? Kale! Magnus Bloody Kale himself!! He lead us into the Jungle he said he had new orders. Id didn't know what to do, he was well. He was Kale. So we pushed ahead, tangling with a few orks that got in the way we handled them no problem. But then we saw something else. Something flittering about in the Jungle. Ghosts or something. Kale ordered us to hold our fire. I told you! He gave the order! Yes! It was Kale, he told us to hold our-"
Private Gerus, interogated by the Inquisition. Executed for Heresy.

"Point to High Ground. Objective spotted. Side A, level 1. Just passed the Point of Impact. *This is High Ground, where the bloody hell are you? You are off course.* Negative High Ground. Point is on course. *You are supposed to be assisting the Space Marines in clearing the Waterworks. Turn around and head west along the river.* Negative High Ground. *Kale the hell are you doing!?* This is Point, requesting radio silence. *Wha-*
Staff Sergeant Magnus Kale's last transmission to PDF Command before 'Daesons Point Incident'.

The Daeson's Point Incident.
Daeson's Point was a small listening post deep within the Tartarus Jungle, its purpose to monitor Feral Ork movements. It was here that Kale lead half of the 212th, diverting them from their objective at the Waterworks. Daeson's Point marks the exact time that Kale seemed to go insane. Where he directly disobeyed orders in order to fulful his own mad objective. Daeson's Point held an enclave of Eldar Xenos. Acording to reports gleened from survivors of the... 'Expedition' Kale met with the Eldar and ordered his soldiers to hold their fire. Kale then handed over some kind of artifact to the Eldar. After that, he and his troops assisted the Eldar in a skirmish with Chaos Cultists, culminating in a pitched battle with a small detachment Chaos Space Marines. After this, Kale lead the handful of survirors back to the Waterworks.

"Kale was talking to himself under his breath. I heard him mutter "I'll get it soon." and "You need to trust me more." He was bloody insane We only followed him because it was him or the Orks and we chose him."
Sargeant Allesbury, Interrogated by the Inquisition. Spared.

"Colonel Carrus Brom managed to capture Kale moments prior to the Blood Ravens assault on the captured Chapel of the Emperor. While the Blood Ravens fought the Alpha Legion, the local PDF Regiment sent as many troops as it could muster to assist. Colonel Brom took a small detachment to investigate a report that Kale was near the Chapel. Colonel Brom located the Staff Sergeant among a group of Cultists. The Cultists had alreadly been slain. Kale himself seemed surprised to see Brom and his men. Brom gave Kale an order to stand down. Kale then very oddly, suggested that they take cover. He then crouched down. Moments later the ground rocked with a Whirlwind Artillery Barrage from the Space Marines. When the smoke Cleared, Colonel Brom was dead. His throat slit. Kale was nowhere to be found."
Private Aster, 265th Tarturus Grenadiers. Spared

"After the barrage of fire from the Emperor's Whirlwind Launchers, my brothers and I under the command of Captain Gabriel pushed forward to secure the Chapel. We spotted a group of PDF troopers converging on our position. We assumed they were there to assist. Inexplicably we came under fire. My brothers and I returned fire without a moment's hesitation, quickly eliminating the Traitorous Element."
Brother Tasius, Blood Ravens 7th Company.

"The Chapel Incident. Yes, I was the Marine who took the hit. A shell struck my Power Armour plate, striking me under the helmet, narrowly missing the interlocking plate of my Holy Vestment. I immediately returned fire, prompting my Brothers to do the Same... I do not see why the Inquisitor needs to question me further, but I will answer. Yes, I only noticed one shot fired on us from the PDF Troopers at the Chapel."
